Public input for this workshop will be collected through Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

The purpose of the study is to identify short–, medium-, and long-term transportation solutions for the study corridors (which include IH-10, US 90, FM 362, FM 359, FM 1489, and FM 1458) that improve safety, mobility, and sustainability while accommodating the region’s residential and commercial growth.

Q: What is the purpose of a mobility study?

A: The purpose of a mobility study, in collaboration with local stakeholders and the public, is to arrive at locally recommended improvement options to address current and future needs of a study area. Further project development, including schematic design, environmental review, and funding, would depend on the outcome of the mobility study.

Q: What are the project limits?

A: The Study Area includes TxDOT On-system roadways: IH-10, US 90, FM 359, FM 362, FM 1489 and FM 1458, within the Brookshire and Pattison city limits as shown in the Study Area map.

Q: Who will benefit from this study?

A: Ultimately, we hope that all residents, pedestrians, bicyclists, businesses, commuters and others who live and work in the Study Area will benefit. The program team is working with stakeholders and the public to identify solutions that optimize safety and mobility, while balancing local accessibility and corridor-wide mobility, bike/pedestrian/transit use, economic and freight mobility, and other important issues for all users. Specific benefits for each user group will depend on the solutions that are recommended for further development.

Q: How can the public provide their feedback?

A: There public can provide feedback as a part of this public meeting in the following ways:

Comments must be received or postmarked by March 19, 2025, in order to be included in the official public meeting documentation.

Q: How will public feedback be considered in the study?

A: The public’s comments will be considered as part of the existing conditions and will help identify current safety, infrastructure, freight, traffic and multimodal needs in the Study Area, which will feed into the proposed recommendations.

Q: When can the public see the proposed recommendations or improvements for the study?

A: The proposed improvements will be presented during our second public meeting, which is scheduled for Fall 2025.

Q: Will the study result in any changes to existing access points or intersections?

A: The study will evaluate the existing access points and intersections along the corridor to improve safety and mobility. The proposed improvements for short-term, mid-term, and long- term implementation will be presented during our second public meeting.

Q: Would the proposed improvements require right-of-way (ROW) acquisition along the corridors?

A: The mobility study will identify short–, medium-, and long-term improvements to address the needs of the study area, and some of these improvements could include ROW acquisition. The proposed improvements will be presented at the second public meeting.

Q: How will the proposed improvements be implemented?

A: The proposed improvements can become projects through funding provided by the Unified Transportation Program (UTP). If funding is received the next steps would be to move forward with a feasibility study or a Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL).
