Identifying Multimodal Needs to Support Cross‑Border Mobility

TxDOT is updating the Texas–Mexico BTMP, a long range plan that evaluates the border region’s transportation system and identifies current and future multimodal needs that affect the movement of people and goods. As part of this update, TxDOT is assessing conditions across all transportation modes – highway, freight (trucks), freight (rail), transit (bus), passenger rail, pedestrian, bicycle, airports, seaports, border crossings, and supporting infrastructure – to understand where improvements are needed to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency in cross border travel and trade, as well as address other related transportation challenges in the region.

To support this assessment, TxDOT is gathering public input on local challenges and opportunities across the border region using the BTMP Interactive Map.
