Welcome to the SH 146 online engagement site! Your opinion matters to us! The TxDOT Beaumont District in coordination with the TxDOT Houston District, is conducting a feasibility study to identify and evaluate viable alternatives for improvements to SH 146 from north of I-10 at Langston Road to north of Ferry Road located in Chambers and Harris Counties in Texas. The proposed study crosses the city boundaries of Mont Belvieu and Baytown.

Study Objective: The objective of the feasibility study is to investigate existing and future transportation needs and develop conceptual alternatives (options) to improve mobility, safety, and accessibility along the SH 146 study area, while minimizing impacts to the environment. The conceptual alternatives will offer potential solutions to improve safety, mobility, and drainage along the SH 146 study area.

Q: What is the purpose of this study?
A: The purpose of the SH 146 Feasibility Study is to investigate existing and future transportation needs and develop conceptual alternatives (options) to improve mobility, safety, and accessibility along the SH 146 study area while minimizing impacts on the environment. Q: What is the goal of this public meeting?

A: The goal is to present an overview of the existing conditions, key issues and needs within the study area. Additionally, the goal is to gather feedback on three potential conceptual alternatives for SH 146 from north of I-10 at Langston Road to north of Ferry Road located in both Chambers and Harris Counties.

Q: Where will this study take place?
A: The proposed SH 146 Feasibility Study limits are from north of I-10 at Langston Road to north of Ferry Road located in both Chambers and Harris Counties. The proposed study crosses the city boundaries of Mont Belvieu and Baytown.

Q: What are the proposed improvements?
A: Three conceptual alternatives will be studied to meet the needs of the study area. Each conceptual alternative will be compared by their ability to meet the study area's needs while minimizing potential adverse/environmental impacts, major utility conflicts, structural impediments, and the need for additional right-of-way (ROW). Bicycle and pedestrian accommodations will be considered throughout the study.

Q: How were the potential conceptual alternatives for the SH 146 study area developed?
A: The potential conceptual alternatives have been developed to address the growth, mobility, and safety needs of the corridor while considering potential impacts to the environment, community, and connectivity.

Q: Have final decisions about the study been made?
A: A final alternative has not yet been determined. The study team will present modified conceptual alternatives at the second public meeting based on public feedback on the potential conceptual alignments shown at this public meeting. The design is still being determined and will be based on public input.

Q: When could construction begin for this study?
A: Construction is not yet planned. The date is contingent upon funding.
